Renewal Capacity Program

Put your community on the path to rapid, resilient renewal.

Our Renewal Capacity Program helps your community or region quickly and dramatically enhance its ability to attract restorative investment and responsible redevelopers. It's based on the reliable, proven model that has powered some of the world's most successful renewal initiatives. You can get started now by scheduling your first workshop.

[Note: If your community, tribe, region, or nation cannot afford our program, most of the concepts mentioned on this page are described in Storm Cunningham's new book, Rewealth! (McGraw-Hill, May 2008).

You can get started for just $9850 (US).  Here's how the program works: each 6-hour workshop (7-8 hours with lunch) costs $9850, and each is purchased separately.  This helps you match the program to your budget and timetable. The Renewal Capacity Program is delivered in 3 phases:

Phase One: RENEWAL PREPARATION. We offer a series of four Educational Workshops to prepare your public/private leaders and/or citizens for the Action Phase.  The primary purpose of a renewal engine is to increase your community's capacity for renewal.  The primary purpose of these four workshops is to increase your community's capacity to build a renewal engine.

  • Workshop #1 (educational): Renewal Potential. Introduces the basic concepts and theory of restorative development so your community can turn its problems into restorable assets.

  • Workshop #2 (educational): Renewal Culture.  Introduces the 3 proven, universal Renewal Rules that should guide decision-making and policies at all levels of a community.  Recent studies reveal that these 3 rules have driven virtually all of the world's greatest community turnaround stories.  Each of these rules, when imbedded into your decision-making and policies, improve the quality and quantity of restorative development in your area.  But combined, they seem to create magic: they can turn your community into a magnet for renewal projects and funding.

  • Workshop #3 (educational): Renewal Solutions. Introduces the 3 proven, universal Renewal Processes that generate the vision, strategy, plan, partnerships, projects, and policies your community needs to achieve rapid, resilient renewal.

  • Workshop #4 (educational): Renewal Capacity.  Introduces the proven, universal organizational model for visioning, funding, and implementing community regeneration. We call it the Renewal Engine.  It's a permanent, non-profit organization that gives your community the capacity to turn your renewal potential into rapid, resilient renewal. Your renewal engine creates and communicates a shared vision of your renewal, creates a renewal culture that attracts renewal investments, and creates the partnerships (public-public, public-private, and private-private) you need to design, fund, and implement renewal projects.

Phase Two: RENEWAL ENGINE CREATION. We offer a series of three Action Workshops to generate actual solutions for your community.  The Educational series of workshops is a prerequisite.  By the time you finish each of these workshops, your community will be increasingly ready, willing, and able to take action.  Workshops #1 through #6 all build support for, and recruit members of, the Renewal Engine.  So creating the Renewal Engine during Workshop #7 should almost be a fait accompli.

  • Workshop #5 (action): Renewal SWOT Analysis.  Trains your people in how to perform a SWOT Analysis (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats) based on the twelve categories of restorable assets in your natural, built, and socioeconomic environments. This information will be essential to turning your vision into an effective strategy and plan, or in updating your current strategy and plan. The analysis actually begins during this workshop: attendees should be prepared (schedule-wise) to follow-through on it after the workshop.

  • Workshop #6 (action): Renewal Policy Review: Shows how to perform a policy review based on the 3 Renewal Rules. Much of the policy review can actually be accomplished during this workshop, and attendees should allocate time to follow-through on it after the workshop.

  • Workshop #7 (action): Renewal Engine Assembly.  Launches the process of building your own Renewal Engine. This is a permanent, non-profit, public-private entity that facilitates public engagement and provides a forum for partnering.  We've distilled the best features of each successful Renewal Engine in the real-world into an ideal composite.  Using that as a model, you can create a renewal engine that best meets your unique needs.  Via your renewal engine, your community can create a shared vision of its renewed future, will make changes to its governance that stimulate and nurture that renewal, and will create the renewal partnerships needed to turn that vision into self-funding projects. Here's a schematic of how it works.

Phase Three: RENEWAL RESOURCES.  Not every community has all the private resources needed to create the public-private projects it needs.  We have the solution.  Once you've got your strategy, you've made your policies renewal-friendly, and you've created your renewal engine, you're ready to meet our private resource providers from around the world.  In other words, once you've made your community a better place for renewal to occur, we'll connect you to the people and organizations that are looking for such places.

We offer ongoing support that connects your community to funding and potential project partners, as well as to leading-edge service providers.  The cost of this optional service is just US$4800 per year.  Phase One and Phase Two are prerequisites, because the members of our resource network are looking for "ideal" investment and business opportunities, just as you are looking for "ideal" partners and vendors.  This ongoing support comes in three forms: 1) personal consultations via phone and email; 2) online resources so you both promote your opportunities and locate resources via the web at any time; and 3) local conferences that brings potential redevelopers, investors, employers, and entrepreneurs directly to your community.  These conferences are linked to our Rewealth Seminars.
